::Course/Learning Management System::

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Moving on my life with a lot of assignments really tens me out,  but Allah always makes it easy for me. my utmost gratitude to HIM. well, the rest I hope that everything is just fine. This is actually the reflection for week two, the C/LMS.....so what is that?

course/learning management system, C/LMS?

the best definition would be it provides an instructor with a set of tools and a framework that allows the relatively easy creation of online courses content and the subsequently teaching and management of the course including various interactions with students taking the course.

Well, from the reading that I've done, seems to me that C/LMS is more on the on-line learning, in which the internet is fully used to accommodate the teaching and learning environment. there are reasons of why we are using C/LMS. one of them are to save time. in course management system, students and teachers are able to communicate out of the classroom. . It may have the administrative system similar to the one that we practise; only the difference is it is carried out by online. Furthermore, it reduces Class time spent on administrative through Roster, Site Member Photos, Sectioning, E-mail, Grade Center, Web Appointment Scheduling System and etc.
Attempting to say that every and each single thing in the world has its pros and cons, I would like to say that the same thing goes to Course/Learning Management System. In spite of that,I beleive that C/LMS could be the best example of e-learning. For educational purposes, it may stand in the front line..

Though my partner and I is quite far left behind in the progression of the task given, well, we're boosting up our speed to keep up with other's pace. two assignments in a week is pretty tough actually, for one single subject. So,my deepest apology to our coordinator and lecturer for the late completion of the tasks.
I think that that's all for now, catch you later!!!!

::Assignment 1:: Online Discussion (Reflection)

Assalamualaikum and a very good day to everyone.

This week is a very special week for me. Why I called it special? Because...... we have started receiving our Assignments. when I write "assignments", of course you know what does that means right? I means A lot. not only from this subject, but from other subject as well. all those presentations..... what a hectic week.. its like the seven days of torture. but never mind, its may be for my own good I think.

So, move on to this particular assignment,( as mentioned in the Title of this entry), we have to do an online discussion. And here is the starting point of working collaboratively with some one.that some one can be anyone( as long as your classmate). and for me, Abdul Rahman bin Ibrahim is my partner. Most importantly, I feel comfortable working with a very committed person like him. In the task, we have to work in pairs. Luckily, my class has 20 students, which make up a total of ten pairs. but, only seven topics are allocated at the first place. quite a few days later, we were informed that there are additional 3 topics that is to be discussed.

Following the "traditions" of my class, in deciding anything that has options, or choices, draw lots is seen as a solution.  so, based on the draw lots, we got topic number 3, Thinking Skills and ICT. wow, pretty tough huh? so, without further ado, we googled everything and it becomes handy.

There are terms that first you need to understand. some of the terms that is used in ICT. for example, Critical thinking. according to National Council  Excellence in Critical Thinking, 1987 "Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, and fairness.."

meanwhile, "ICT" is used as a general term for all kinds of technologies which enable users to create, access and manipulate information. ICT is a combination of information technology and communications technology."

so, based on this basis, online discussion is carried out. Even though there are only few feedbacks on the post in Facebook that has been created earlier this semester, the number of students that take part in the discussion increased over time. up to ine time, the discussion is about the internet security, which enables the parents to take control of what is being surf by their children.Basically, the main point that I wanted to state here is that, using the critical thinking in your work, helps you to be abetter person. for example, the father does not restrictthe son or daughter to surf the web, but he has already set the page that can be surf and the page that is restricted. so here, Critical Thinking has been used!

In conclusion, there are lots of benifits from the online discussion. throughout the discussion also uses a lot of critical thinking, especially when my classmates askme about anything that I don't know, I have to critically read the materials before presented to them....online discussion really helps me to enhance my discussion skills and ICT skills, in one way or another..... :)

But I would like to thanks to Mr Helmi syazwan, Wan Syazwani Nasuha, Faidatul Syuhada, Wan Nazira Che nor,  YM Tengku Norazlan and my partner, Mr. Abdul Rahman for dropping your comment to the discussion. your effort is really appreciated.

that's all for now, thank you!!

First Week Class of Computer in Education

Assalamualaikum wbt..
to be brief, so here are what has been learnt in the first class of the week..

For the first entry of this Blog, here are what is required.
"complete notes of what is learnt today"
1. Steps on how to register
2. Reflection on what you have learned.

First of all, the registration process took some time, as a lot of things has to be done. I have to register 2 different emails (Yahoo & Google), Yahoo groups, Facebook and last but not least this Blog. Pretty interesting and handy, yet because of the internet connection here is a bit slower than usual, it takes me some times to accomplish my mission.

Talking about creating two emails account at the same time, thanks to Google and Yahoo for a simple, yet beneficial account details that is required. but, with the conditions of the registration outlined by the coordinator, I have to out it as my official name, my full name of course. put a signature on an email? Surely i have never been doing that. actually it is in the setting. here are the example....

Mohamad Firdaus Jaafar
BEd TESL
IPGKDRI Kuala Terengganu

Right after that, I joined the Yahoo group that has been created by Dr Siti Fatimah Mohd Yassin. It is quite complicated especially when I managed to sign in and then received a message from the owner that I have to invite Mr Fariduddin, yet I never found the invite button! what an irony...

Registering for Facebook now requires you to verify it with a code that is going to be sent to your mobile. only then I am able to verify my Username... so far, there are only 2-3 friends in my friend list. that's great!

Last but not least, I have to register this blog. luckily that i have the experience of creating a blog before, it helps me to simplify and shortened the time taken to create a free blog. all you required is your email address (Google of course) and password. Then I have to set the URL correctly, as it is going to be my official blog.

Reflection.

Through out the course, There are a lot of new things that I have gained. especially when it comes to email. Frankly, i have several other emails, but I never thought of having an official one. so with this Computer in Education course, I am able to have one and then it can be used for future, across my life span I guess. another beneficial knowledge that I have earned is that joining yahoo groups. Even though there are few things that is not clear to me, I wish that I manage to come to term with that. Lastly, having my own official blog lets me share with you of my experience that I may never share it with someone else. I may have to improvise my blog, especially with a beautiful headings and etcetera. So I guess that's all from me so far. Thank you for lending me some of your time reading my blog!
